Juniper Unite Cloud-Enabled Enterprise Reference Architecture

“The cloud is central to the transformation of the enterprise. From public to private to hybrid, enterprises are adopting cloud technologies as their primary operating model, making campus and branch networks the critical on-ramp to cloud-based applications deployed in private clouds, on-premise data centers, or hosted in remote locations.

Network virtualization is also transforming enterprise IT, offering a springboard to the flexibility and agility of the cloud. With virtualization, networks can evolve into new deployment and management paradigms, with enterprise campus and branch networks reaping the benefits of centralized visibility and control…”

University of Kentucky Researchers Move Massive Data Loads Easily with an SDN-Enabled Campus Network

“From astronomy to bioinformatics to diagnostic medicine to physics and beyond, science requires moving massive data sets. Making that possible is Cody Bumgardner’s mission. “Researchers need to move data that’s generated on campus to the cloud and other universities,” explains Bumgardner, director of research computing at University of Kentucky….”

Grand Rapids Community College Achieves Data Center Segmentation with vArmour

“Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) is a multi-campus college with a 27,000-student body, offering more than 5000 classes, seminars, programs, and workshops each year to Michigan’s second largest metropolitan community.

With schools and universities facing malicious cyber attacks at ever-increasing rates, GRCC sought a preventative solution to improve its security posture and lower the risk of critical PCI, PII, and HIPAA data being compromised. The best way to achieve this was to segment their data center with stateful, Layer 7 policy enforcing traffic between applications within their virtual environment…”

Juniper Switches Provide Scale and Simplicity for any Size Data Center

“Today’s data centers are being pushed to their limit by new technologies, ever-increasing applications, and ever-changing traffic patterns. To improve business agility, they need to be built around switching architectures that reduce management complexity, accelerate deployment, and improve time to value. Juniper’s Ethernet switching portfolio supports a number of innovative switching architectures that support deployments that scale from dozens to thousands of ports, delivering a highly flexible solution for virtually any data center environment…”

Juniper Networks EVPN Implementation for Next-Generation Data Center Architectures

“Traditionally, data centers have used Layer 2 technologies such as Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), multichassis link aggregation group (MC-LAG), and Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links (TRILL) for compute and storage connectivity. As the design of these data centers evolves to scale out multitenant networks, a new data center architecture is needed that decouples the underlay network from a tenant overlay network with technologies such as Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN). Using a Layer 3 IP-based underlay coupled with a VXLAN-EVPN overlay, data center

and cloud operators can deploy much larger networks than are otherwise possible with traditional L2 Ethernet-based architectures. With overlays, endpoints (servers or virtual machines) can be placed anywhere in the network and remain connected to the same logical L2 network, enabling the virtual topology to be decoupled from the physical topology…”

CylancePROTECT™ Achieves HIPAA Security Rule Compliance Cert

“CylancePROTECT™ tested by HIPAA security assessors to be significantly superior to any other antivirus or anti-malware product in finding malicious software. Cylance’s flagship product achieved 100 percent compliance with HIPAA/HITECH malicious software security standards.
Cylance, the company that is revolutionizing cybersecurity through the use of artificial intelligence to proactively prevent, rather than just reactively detect, advanced persistent threats and malware, today announced that CylancePROTECT™ has been certified 100 percent compliant with HIPAA/HITECH malicious software protection, detection and reporting requirements…”

Aruba Instant Wi-Fi Connects Communities at ACTS

“Multi-state ACTS Retirement-Life Communities deploys a secure, scalable, enterprise Aruba WLAN featuring Instant APs, ClearPass and AirWave to connect its staff, improve resident care and services, and reduce costs at communities spread across the East and South.
With the first wave of mobile retirees beginning to move into active adult residential settings, James Clark sought to continue his organization’s tradition of innovation by bringing leading-edge connectivity to ACTS Retirement-Life Communities. “We needed a high-performance, secure, reliable enterprise wireless network to enable us to provide a range of telephony, mobile device access, healthcare and other capabilities for our staff, external providers and residents,” says Clark, Corporate Director of Technology for ACTS, a multi-state, 28-location organization based in West Point, Pennsylvania…”

Implementing HIPAA Security Rules – Challenges and Best Practices for IT in the Health Care Industry

“All health care related organizations must adhere to the standards laid down by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) to protect a patient’s personal health information.
This document outlines key challenges faced by health care organizations today, and how to successfully overcome such challenges and ensure that networks, data and applications remain secure.
Pulse Secure’s mission is “Delivering Secure Access Solutions for people, devices, things and services”. Remote Access to data center resources has evolved to Secure Access – where the location and type of resource being securely accessed is more than just data centers, including Cloud/SaaS applications, and Mobility. Devices must be secured whether outside or inside the organization, laptop or mobile…”

Preventing WannaCrypt Type of Cyberattacks with Host Checker

“We have grown accustomed to computer viruses but the latest WannaCrypt worm attack was a Friday surprise that took the world by storm. It claimed more than 200,000 victims in less than 48 hours, according to one count by Europol, Europe’s policing agency. The Associated Press also reported that the ransomware spread to 150 countries, and victims included Chinese gas stations, Japanese broadcasters, British hospitals, and German railways. WannaCrypt is particularly malicious because it takes just one person to click on an infected link or email attachment to spread the virus. Once infected, the host machine scans the organization’s intranet and the internet for other vulnerable machines leading to rapid spread of the virus in a vastly interconnected world.

Can organizations protect themselves from this type of cyber-attacks?

The answer is yes, and we will explain how the Pulse Secure Host Checker function provides a proactive defense…”

Cylance Healthcare Case Study

“The Company:
A US-based healthcare services and product provider with over 400 locations nationwide, directly supporting over one million patients.

The Situation:
Despite investing heavily in their cybersecurity infrastructure, the company routinely responded to malware outbreaks. By adopting a “detect and respond” approach, the company’s IT department and security budgets were funneled into acquiring network-based detection products and chasing threats after the damage had already been done. As a large medical services and product provider, the company could not risk losing patient data or being exposed to any regulation violations…”
